Mr. Jim Lenderman
I would like to thank the citizens of the county who have supported our schools for many years. I especially would like to thank the individuals that voiced their opinion and helped me become the Superintendent. With your help and support we can and will ensure that our students receive a quality education.
Like many other school systems, we are coping with economic conditions that have forced us to make many tough decisions that we normally would not have to make. Over the past few years we have lost a number of staff members to a reduction-in-force, taken non-paid furlough days, reduced the work week, and cut areas of the budget to a level never seen before. All of these measures have helped the bottom line and reduced our operating expenses. It appears that in the near future this will be the norm rather than the exception. However, I assure you that we will make every effort to tighten our belt and cut expenditures without sacrificing the quality of education that is being provided to our students. We must ensure that our students graduate with the skills necessary to get meaningful employment and become productive citizens.
The vision for our school system is to prepare students for success through a rigorous education with high academic standards in schools where students want to learn, parents want their children to attend, and teachers want to teach.
I am proud to be the Superintendent of the Chattooga County School System and I look forward to the challenges that we all face. I assure you that working together we can make our school system one that we all will be proud of.
